The Redskins‘ defense shut down the Lions‘ high-powered offense in yesterday’s blowout victory. A look at three members of the defense who played big roles:

• ANDRE CARTER

The defensive end harassed quarterback Jon Kitna all game, recording two sacks, including a third-quarter safety.

• CARLOS ROGERS

Although his 61-yard interception return for a touchdown came when the Redskins already had sealed the win, his defense on the Lions’ receivers helped while the game was still in doubt.

• SEAN TAYLOR

The safety provided a nasty block on Thrash’s punt return and picked off his second pass in as many games.
