MIAMI — There’s really nothing quite like watching a major league game with fewer than 500 people in the stands.

That’s how many people were in attendance for yesterday’s matinee. A couple of local reporters did a head count at first pitch and came up with 375 fans, though a few more trickled in during the first couple innings.

There are all sorts of legitimate reasons for the lack of support in this town — bad stadium, bad weather, bad team — but how much longer before MLB decides it’s just not going to happen in South Florida?

BY THE NUMBERS

6.7

Average walks Joel Hanrahan has issued per nine innings this season. That ranks 612th among all major league pitchers.

TOMORROW’S GAME

Braves LHP Chuck James (10-10, 4.21) vs. Nationals LHP Matt Chico (5-8, 4.61), 7:05 p.m., MASN, AM-1500, FM-107.7.
