SEEN AND HEARD AT RFK STADIUM

Four Nationals will take the first-ever swings at their new ballpark this afternoon. Ryan Zimmerman, Ryan Church, Wily Mo Pena and Justin Maxwell will take pseudo batting practice on the gravel field at Nationals Park at 2 p.m. Whether they’ll be able to get any real gauge on how the ball carries in their new digs remains to be seen. But at the very least, we won’t be hearing anyone mutter about a 390-foot drive to the gap being an RFK flyout.

OVERHEARD

“Regardless of nostalgia and all that, we’ve got to move on. This place is old and obsolete, and I hear all the complaints from fans on the street. Let’s move on and have a nice, enjoyable place.”

— Manager Manny Acta, on the final homestand at RFK Stadium.

TONIGHT’S GAME
