D.C. United technical director Dave Kasper was promoted to the role of general manager.

Kasper’s role will expand from finding and signing talent to overseeing all of United’s soccer operations. Previously the club did not have a general manager.

Not only has Dave become a master of the unique rules and regulations of Major League Soccer, but he has developed a true understanding of the international market, United president Kevin Payne said.

Kasper, who joined United in 2002, was responsible for bringing Christian Gomez and Luciano Emilio to United.

Kasper played for Maryland and later became coach at Duquesne in 1994.
