A lot of the guys who played in their first playoff Friday night talked about how they were more nervous before the game than they are used to, but it was clearly more relaxed at K-Plex [at practice yesterday].

Case in point: Mike Green fielded questions from a new member of the media contingent, none other than Alex Ovechkin. He was impatiently waiting for Green to do another interview together, so he grabbed a microphone and started asking questions.

Ovechkin: How you feel when I jump on you?

Green: What?

Ovechkin: How you feel when I jump on you when you score second goal?

Green: I always get a little nervous … when you chase me.

Ovechkin: It was pretty sick, right?

Green: Uh, yeah.

More evidence of the growing Caps hysteria: While Bruce Boudreau conducted his post-practice interview, the shrill of several dozen screaming girls startled him. The girls saw Brooks Laich come off the ice, and they called for him to come sign autographs. After a couple of quick quips about Laich’s popularity, Boudreau asked the reporter to repeat the question, and the scrum continued.

NICKNAME OF THE WEEK

“Red Jesus”

It doesn’t flow as well as Vikings star Adrian Peterson’s nickname (Purple Jesus), but the moniker coined by JP of Japers’ Rink (https://japersrink.blogspot.com) is an improvement over “Ovie” or “Alexander the Great.” Added JP: “It’s a shameless rip-off, but there couldn’t be a more deserving nickname.”
