The Washington Redskins will get tested early this upcoming season as they play all three of their divisional road games in the first five weeks. New coach Jim Zorn will return to his former home in Seattle on Nov. 23 and the Redskins will play in the Baltimore Ravens’ home for the first time on Dec. 7 when they take the short trip to M & T Bank Stadium.

Washington opens the season against the Super Bowl champion New York Giants on Thursday, Sept. 4 in the first game of the NFL season. Zorn will make his home debut Sept. 14 when the Redskins play host to New Orleans.

The schedule, which was released yesterday, features three national broadcasts in prime time. In addition to the opener at 7 p.m. on NBC, Washington will play host Pittsburgh on Monday, Nov. 3 on ESPN, and Dallas comes to FedEx Field Nov. 16 for a Sunday night contest.

“We open with the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and three of our first five games are against division rivals, which will be a tough task in the best division in football,” Zorn said. “I know the fans will be thrilled for our first home game against FedEx Field against the New Orleans Saints. I am very excited to hear our fans and the atmosphere in support of our team.”

Washington will make its final trip to Texas Stadium to face NFC rival Dallas on Sept. 28. The next Sunday, the Redskins play at Philadelphia. The home schedule also has a return visit from former top offensive coach Al Saunders, who has the same position in St. Louis. The Rams come to Washington on Oct. 12.
