Capitals fans are better than Redskins fans in at least one category: They wear jerseys of current players.

The rundown before last night’s Game 7: Current players were Mike Green, Boyd Gordon, Donald Brashear, Milan Jurcina, Michael Nylander, Nicklas Backstrom, Alexander Semin, Chris Clark, Steve Eminger, Cristobal Huet, Olie Kolzig and, most of all, Alex Ovechkin.

Former players: Rod Langway, Dale Hunter, Al Iafrate, Peter Bondra, Scott Stevens and Mike Gartner. …

Evidently several rows of section 200 on the club level didn’t get the memo about the Caps winning Game 6. At face off (7:10 p.m.), more than 30 seats were unoccupied. As usual during the last month, the upper deck consisting mostly of single-game ticket sales was packed.

1. Joffrey Lupul. With the Flyers on a power play, Lupul picked the right time to score his only goal of the series, the game-winner 6:06 into overtime.

2. Alex Ovechkin. His wrist shot beat Martin Biron to tie the score at 2-2 with 4:31 remaining in the second period. He assisted on the Capitals” first goal.

3. Martin Biron. In addition to his 39 saves, he got the second assist on Philadelphia”s second-period goal, which gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead.
