BEST OF SMALL: Even with prices under $20,000, today’s small cars provide many convenience features, comfortable interiors, refinement, and improved economy. Road tests made by Consumer Reports rated the Hyundai Elantra SE as the best small car, with the redesigned Toyota Corolla running a close second. Other cars in the running were the Ford Focus and Chevrolet Aveo. Reasons cited for the Elantra choice were: a comfortable ride, roomy interior and nice fit-and-finish.
