Wow, such wailing and gnashing of teeth over nothing.

Just when I thought the Washington Times was making progress by ditching your longstanding policy of replacing every instance of the word “gay” with the much more clinical-sounding “homosexual,” along comes this editorial warning about the “peril for both body and soul” of same-sex kissing!

Perhaps one reason why Katy Perry’s song is so popular is because the thought of two heterosexual girls making out is such a fantasy image for Straight guys!

But in my mind the song simply underscores something that many of us have known for a long time: Sexual expression tends to be a lot more fluid among women than among men.

I suppose if Melissa Etheridge had done a song entitled “I Kissed a Boy,” the headline for your editorial would probably be: “Melissa Finally Gets It Right!”
