Mr. Binley is here raising an issue of grave importance. I had never known the breath of the PMOI’s positive contribution in Iraq. Humanitarian and legal justifications for protecting the group notwithstanding, we can not afford losing the support of the Secular Sunnis in Iraq. In recent days, the awakening council leaders in Diyala province have been targeted by terrorists. Clearly, Iran is doing what it can to intimidate the secular leaders in the province so as to weakening PMOI support and undermine coalition efforts.

Mr. Binley informs us that the PMOI is an asset to the cause of democracy in Iraq and an ally of the US. In its endeavor to encourage democracy, freedom, and the rule of law in the Middle East, the U.S. must be a vigilant supporter of the other regional champions (of these causes), namely the PMOI.

The free world must also support and encourage the U.S. in this difficult path. Mr. Binley of the U.K. has certainly offered great suggestions.
