The theme of the Democratic Convention will be unity, and to that end, delegates from Michigan and Florida have been granted full voting rights. This will make no difference to the many of us Democrats who wanted a nominee elected by all voting members participating in primaries and caucuses instead of one benefiting from rules excluding the voices of two states. We are reminded constantly that it would be foolish to act against our public and private interests by voting for Sen. John McCain or not voting, but we never should have been forced by the Democratic leadership to choose between our interests and our principles.
