Am I the only one who cringes every time I hear a Democrat say Sen. Barack Obama is the man who will change America? Over and over they chant, “We need change in America,” “It’s time for change” and “Barack will change America and the world.”

Who said America needs to be changed? I, for one, love the way this country is. From our founding, we’ve been innovative, independent, self-reliant, brave and charitable and the country where everyone else wants to come.

Mr. Obama talks about “hope.” Well, that’s what we have been. We’ve been the hope of the world. All those living under tyrannical governments have always looked to us to rescue and inspire them.

I can understand if the Democrats say they want to change this or that policy, but they never say that. They always say “change America.” Well, America isn’t our policies. America is the American people and the spirit with which they live their lives, and that for sure does not need to be changed.
