More ‘Newlyweds’

ABC has renewed last season’s reality success “Here Come the Newlyweds” for a second round, the Hollywood Reporter says.

The one-hour romantic-comedy series will return midseason. On the show, nine recently married couples compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars to jump-start their new lives together.

ABC has increased the series order from last season’s six episodes to eight. Once again, comic Pat Bullard hosts.

Shopping ‘Swingtown

CBS is courting a new partner for “Swingtime,” the prime-time rookie drama about partner-swapping, Broadcastingcable.com reports.

The show, produced by the CBS Paramount Network Television studio, has had disappointing ratings in its first season this summer. Yet it has many fans within the company who want to see it return, whether on the broadcast network or somewhere else.

A CBS spokesman declined comment on the show, which centers on a neighborhood of swingers in suburban Chicago in the 1970s.

CBS demoted the show at the end of July from its Thursday 10 p.m. time slot to Fridays at 10 p.m. Before the move, the show averaged 6.7 million viewers. Following the time-period relegation, the show predictably fell to an average of just 3.9 million viewers.
