ANALYSIS/OPINION:

The Massachusetts governor approved gay marriages for out-of-staters (Nation, Web edition, July 31). He said society must treat everyone equally. However, that cannot be true of the traditional concept of marriage.

In America, the definition and meaning of marriage has been a contract between one man and one woman for the purpose of having children and having a prosperous society. It is also a lifelong contract.

Christ, in His teachings, told His followers that from the beginning of creation it was to be so: “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.” Of course, in this modern age, we can put aside millenarian customs and cater to the pleasures of the electorate.

Propaganda wins over clear thinking and courageous expressions. Our leaders hustle their followers on the way to corruption.
