Celebrating black history

February is Black History Month, and special programs range across the cultural spectrum, from tours of the slave quarters at Mount Vernon to cool jazz. Webwise, the Smithsonian leads the way with a separate page devoted entirely to black history events at its museums and centers: www.smithsonianeducation.org/heritage_month/index.html. For details of Smithsonian and other programs, see listings in Museums, Clubs, Classical Music, Pop Music, Dance, Lectures and Children.
