College: Missouri State How acquired: Selected in the first round of the 2007 Player Draft (sixth overall) 2007 statistics with the Gulf Coast League Nationals: 4 starts, 12 innings pitched, 0-0 with a 2.25 ERA. 2007 statistics with Class A Potomac: 5 games, 4 starts, 211/3 innings pitched, 2-2 with a 4.22 ERA. 2007 statistics with Washington: 1 game, 1 inning pitched, 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Minor League totals: 9 games, 8 starts, 331/3 innings pitched, 2-2 record. Personal: Grew up in Wentzville, Mo., the hometown of rock ‘n roll legend Chuck Berry. Nationals scouting report: Tall, lanky left-hander with a frame that should fill out as he matures. He has an above-average fastball that is anywhere from 90-94. He has an above average power curveball. He has good feel for his changeup that should also be a plus pitch for him. He has nice, clean arm action and has worked on improving his delivery.
