• Ed Forman and Najeeb Uddin joined Merkle, a database marketing agency. Mr. Forman joins as Merkle’s vice president of professional services in the commercial database group, and Najeeb Uddin joins as Merkle’s vice president of database solutions in the nonprofit group. Prior to joining Merkle, Mr. Forman served in the dual roles of chief information officer and chief technology officer for another marketing agency, Targetbase Inc. Mr. Uddin previously served as vice president of client services at Convio Inc., an Internet software and services company.


• Kenneth Almgren was named chief operating officer of the National Association for the Education of Young Children in the District. Prior to joining association, Mr. Almgren served as executive vice president, chief financial officer and corporate secretary for the National Association of Broadcasters in the District for 16 years.

• Chuck Fuqua was named vice president of communications for the American Frozen Food Institute, a trade association that represents the interests of all segments of the frozen food industry. Mr. Fuqua joins AFFI after serving more than five years at the U.S. Commerce Department in the secretary’s office of public affairs. He most recently served as deputy director of public affairs for Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez.


• Lonnie Rich and Edward Rosenthal have formed a new law firm, Rich, Rosenthal, Manitta, Dzubin & Kroeger. The new firm, located in Alexandria, will practice: family law; wills, trusts and estates; business organization, transactions and litigation; federal and state criminal defense and appeals; and civil liberties and constitutional law.

• Patrick Friel was named partner-in-charge of Heidrick & Struggles International’s Tysons Corner; Charlotte, N.C.; and D.C. offices. Mr. Friel, who joined Heidrick & Struggles in 1997, is a partner in the firm’s business and professional services practice and the financial officers practice.


• Nancy Straub joined GEI Consultants Inc. as a geotechnical/environmental engineer in its D.C. office. Prior to joining GEI, she worked at Haley & Aldrich, Inc. as a project manager and senior engineer.


• Jacquie Holder was named assistant general manager of the Holiday Inn Capitol in Southwest. Ms. Holder was previously general manager of the Crossroads Inn on the Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia.

• Ralph Randall was named general manager of the Residence Inn by Marriott - Rosslyn in Arlington. Previously, Mr. Randall served as general manager of the Residence Inn - Dupont in Northwest.
