MARYLAND

Saturday and Sunday: The Pry House Field Hospital Museum at Keedysville and the South Mountain Battlefield hold Signal Corps Weekend, with live signaling demonstrations and talks at those locations from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information: 301/416-2395 or www.civilwarmed.org.

Saturday: Belair Mansion, 12207 Tulip Grove Drive, Bowie, holds a program on Maryland soldiers in the Civil War, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will learn about camp life, military drill, cavalry experiences and listen to the volley of a musket-firing demonstration. Aug. 7: Historian Robert Hartman will speak on “Flags of the Civil War” at 7:30 p.m. in the conference room at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, 48 E. Patrick St., Frederick. Information: 301/695-1864.

VIRGINIA

Aug. 14: The Bull Run Civil War Round Table will hear historian Maureen Quinn speak on “From Washington, D.C., to Gettysburg: The Civil War in Marble and Bronze,” 7:15 p.m. at the Centreville Regional Library, 14200 St. Germain Drive. The meeting is free and open to the public.
