— (AP) – Metro is warning passengers to expect major delays on the red line.

Transit system officials say emergency crews are on the scene of a small fire along the tracks near the Dupont Circle station. Trains are sharing a single track from Judiciary Square to Farragut North, and riders can expect delays of more than an hour.

Officials say free shuttle buses will be available at Gallery Place-Chinatown, Farragut North and Metro Center stations. Customers can expect to wait more than an hour for the buses.

A major power outage in downtown Washington also is affecting the Dupont Circle, Shaw-Howard, McPherson Square, Farragut West and Farragut North stations, but trains are still operating. The stations are on emergency lighting and the escalators and elevators are not working.

Pepco reports there were about 11,000 outages in Washington at 8:45 a.m.
