2:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. MEDICAL SIMULATION Advanced Initiatives in Medical Simulation (AIMS), a coalition group promoting medical simulation as a way to improve both health care quality and patient safety, will hold “hands on” exposition of medical simulation technologies on Capitol Hill. Members of Congress, staff, and others will “operate” on digitally-enhanced mannequin patients with lifelike anatomical detail and clinical functionality, “deliver babies” using a birthing simulator, and save a trauma victim by assessing its vital signs and injuries using actual medical equipment. Participants will be able to experience the technologies used to train and assess clinical knowledge and decision-making skills for health care providers from paramedics to nurses and physicians.
