NORMAL, ALA. (AP) - Kevin Atkins passed for 357 yards and five touchdowns, and ran for two more scores to lead Alabama A&M to a 58-23 victory over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.

Atkins was 24 of 35 and threw touchdown passes of 13, 28, 4, 15 and 18 yards for the Hornets (5-7, 3-3 Southwest Athletic Conference), who finished with 525 yards of offense. Atkins also scored on a pair of 1-yard runs.

Atkins gave the Hornets a 14-0 lead with scoring passes of 13 and 28 yards to Thomas Harris, who also caught the final touchdown pass to finish with 11 catches for 201 yards and three scores.

Paul Roberts was 11 of 21 for 245 yards and a touchdown for the Delta Devils (3-8, 1-6). Abner Brown caught six passes for 103 yards.

Alabama A&M led 31-16 going into the second half when Atkins scored on his second 1-yard run. He then threw a 15-yard touchdown pass for a 45-16 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
