SEEN AND HEARD AT VERIZON CENTER

If there weren’t enough intrigue for Monday night’s game against Tampa Bay, the Lightning added a little more Friday. Tampa Bay traded defenseman Matt Carle and a third-round pick to Philadelphia for former Capsdefenseman Steve Eminger, Steve Downie and a fourth-round selection.

“Hopefully the trade works out good for [Eminger],” Caps forward Boyd Gordon said. “I wish him the best. That’s all I can really say about it. I was really surprised when I saw it on the Internet.”

The headliner is Olie Kolzig, who returns to the District for the first time in a road uniform. But it will also be Eminger’s first regular-season game at Verizon Center against his former mates, as well as Matt Pettinger’s first time back. Pettinger was dealt to Vancouver at the trade deadline last season, but the Canucks waived him this season and he was picked up by the Lightning.
