Potomac 8, Myrtle Beach 2:

Dee Brown went 2-for-3 with a first-inning home run and three RBI as the Nationals claimed the Mills Cup title, winning the high Class A Carolina League championship series three games to one.

The championship is a first for a Washington Nationals full-season affiliate and the first for Prince William County’s team since 1989. The Nationals, who won both halves in the Northern Division regular season, wrapped up the series before a crowd of 1,314 at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Va.

Erik Arnesen won the clincher, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Along with Brown, Daniel Lyons, Andrew Lefave and Stephen King each had two hits for Potomac. The Nationals scored in each of the first four innings and coasted after grabbing a 7-1 lead.
