The long and short

He Pingping from Inner Mongolia, China’s autonomous region, at 2 feet 5 is the world’s smallest man. What could he have been thinking yesterday in London’s Trafalgar Square as he was straddled by Svetlana Pankratova from Russia, known as the Queen of Longest Legs?

Mr. He, 20, was born with primordial dwarfism and holds the Guinness World Record as the smallest man. Miss Pankratova, 36, holds the Guinness World Record for the longest leg of any woman, at 52 inches in length, Associated Press reports.

The photo-op was for the launching of the latest Guinness compilation.

Thanks for Hanks

Two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks will be the center of attention April 27 at the Film Society in Lincoln Center’s annual gala tribute in the Manhattan arts complex.

“With his talent, his presence, his versatility, his sense of humor, he has set a very high standard for his fellow actors,” says Kent Jones, the society’s associate director of programming. Mr. Jones also cited Mr. Hanks’ talent of making “a good man compelling,” AP says.

Mr. Hanks’ Oscars are for “Philadelphia” in 1993 and “Forrest Gump” in 1994.

Sweet for Streep

Meryl Streep, another two-time Oscar winner who was honored last year by the Film Society in Lincoln Center, will receive a lifetime achievement award at Spain’s San Sebastian Film Festival, which starts rolling Thursday.

Spanish actor Javier Bardem also will receive the award. He won an Oscar this year for “No Country for Old Men.” Miss Streep won Oscars in 1980 for “Kramer vs. Kramer” and in 1983 for “Sophie’s Choice” and has been nominated 12 other times.

Donasti — that’s Basque for San Sebastian — is the name of the award for Miss Streep and Mr. Bardem, according to the Agence France-Presse dispatch.

Completely candid

Megan Fox, the 22-year-old “Transformers” star engaged to actor Brian Austin Green, told GQ magazine she once was in love with a female stripper.

Miss Fox, who appears on the October cover in a black bikini, said she was in the relationship when she was 18 and first living in Los Angeles alone. “Well, that year, my boyfriend broke up with me, and I decided — oh man, sorry, mommy! — that I was in love with this girl that worked at the Body Shop,” Miss Fox said. “I decided that I was going to get her to love me back, and I went out of my way to create a relationship with this girl, a stripper named Nikita.”

Miss Fox said Nikita would do “these beautiful slow dances to Aerosmith ballads.” The actress also said she would bring the Russian stripper gifts and try to inspire her to quit her line of work. On Monday, Miss Fox’s publicist, Dominique Appel, confirmed the GQ report.
