Saturday’s Convoy of Hope event, in which 80,000 pounds of groceries were to be distributed to over 10,000 guests at RFK stadium, has been postponed until Sunday, September 7 due to bad weather.

Convoy of Hope spokesman Adam Taylor told the Washington Times that they received word Tropical Storm Hanna was expected to bring heavy rain and hurricane force winds to the Washington D.C area on Satuday, and so delayed the event as a precaution.

“We’ve been in contact with the Department of Homeland Security, and they told us that it was simply too dangerous to hand out food today”, said Mr. Taylor.

A small detachment of COH volunteers headed by Taylor was set up at Stadium-Armory metro station to inform guests that the event was postponed. Hopes are high that Sundays event will go on as scheduled.

“We’re still expecting to put on an amazing event, rain or shine”, said Taylor.
