I hope this presidential election is going to be decided on issues and not on personalities. This is because the world really does kind of hang in the balance. It really does matter who is in charge.

The Republicans have done a dreadful job for us — weakening the dollar, weakening the military, diminishing America’s standing in the world, diminishing the role of science and reason in government, exploding our national debt and jeopardizing the future of our children.

They may be terrible at governing, but they are very, very good at winning elections. Republicans are great at mocking and belittling and swift-boating. The result has been eight years of tremendous harm to our country, with the very real possibility of four more.
