PATTAYA, THAILAND (AP) - More than 2,000 protesters have converged on the site of a summit of Asian leaders, forcing the cancellation of one meeting and the postponement of another.

The protesters blocked leaders from leaving their nearby hotels on Saturday morning. They then marched to the meeting venue and clashed with rival demonstrators. The two sides threw rocks and smoke bombs at each other about three miles (five kilometers) from the venue.

Thai Government Spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn says two or three people were injured in the clashes. Authorities were investigating reports of shots fired and an explosion.

Panitan said the delays so far were “isolated” but he says other meetings could be postponed.
