Federal prosecutors filed an indictment Thursday afternoon against former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, The Washington Times has learned.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who is overseeing the Blagojevich case, issued a press release Thursday morning indicating there would be a filing in a significant criminal matter.
Mr. Blagojevich was originally arrested in December and accused on various corruption charges, including a purported effort to sell to the highest bidder the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President Obama.
