COATESVILLE, PA. (AP) - A man rejected as a firefighter has been indicted in one of the arsons plaguing an area outside Philadelphia.
Nineteen-year-old Mark Gilliam is charged in a January blaze at the Happy Days Family Bistro in Thorndale.
Gilliam, of West Chester, is one of seven suspects arrested so far in a spree of arsons in Coatesville and the surrounding area.
He was arrested in February, but the grand jury indictment was released Thursday.
Authorities say he applied to join the West Bradford Fire Co. but was rejected.
He faces one count of malicious destruction of a building by fire. Federal authorities say the investigation continues.
His lawyer didn’t return a call Thursday.
