Lady Madonna suffers fall
Madonna took a tumble while horseback riding in the Hamptons on Saturday when her mount was startled by photographers, and she suffered “minor injuries” and bruises, a spokeswoman told Associated Press.
Paparazzi had “jumped out of the bushes” to photograph her, spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg said.
It’s at least the second fall from a horse in four years for Madonna, 50.
The singer was treated at a Southampton hospital and was released, said Miss Rosenberg, who wouldn’t disclose more details on her condition.
According to AP, the Material Mom had been visiting friends in the Hamptons, a playground for the rich and famous on the eastern end of Long Island.
She was thrown from a horse in England in the summer of 2005. She cracked three ribs and broke her collarbone and a hand in that accident.
She got back on a horse a couple of months later, when she was a guest on the “Late Show With David Letterman” on CBS. She and the talk show’s host rode their horses outside his Manhattan studio. She said it was the first time since her fall that she had been back in the saddle.
Roddick marries SI model
Andy Roddick has tied the knot … mere weeks after his famous ex, Mandy Moore, did the same.
The tennis champ, 26, wed Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker, 21, Friday at his lakeside home in Texas, the New York Daily News reports.
Mr. Roddick’s pal Elton John performed eight songs for the happy couple at the reception, People magazine reports.
Mr. Roddick and Miss Decker have been dating for nearly two years — and reportedly met after the tennis ace saw his future wife in the pages of SI’s Swimsuit issue and asked his agent to set them up.
The nuptials come nearly a month after Miss Moore’s intimate Savannah, Ga., wedding to singer-songwriter Ryan Adams. The former couple openly dated for several years before Mr. Roddick ended the relationship in 2004.
’Slumdog’ child for sale
The father of “Slumdog Millionaire” child actress Rubina Ali tried to sell his 9-year-old daughter for adoption in a bid to escape the Mumbai slums, Agence France-Presse reports, citing a story from a British newspaper.
News of the World claims that Rafiq Qureshi wanted 20 million rupees ($400,000) for the girl, who played the young Latika in the British hit film set in India.
“Slumdog Millionaire,” a rags-to-riches tale of children from the slums of Mumbai, won eight Oscars in February, including the best picture Academy Award.
News of the World said its reporters posed as a wealthy family from Dubai, employing its regular “fake sheik” sting tactic. The weekly tabloid said a Mumbai informant told them that Mr. Qureshi was touting for the highest offer, having already been approached by a Middle Eastern family.
The newspaper published pictures of the actress, her father and uncle posing with their undercover reporter, plus video clips of Mr. Qureshi and his brother-in-law during their meeting last week.
Mel’s mystery gal?
Shortly after Mel Gibson’s wife Robyn filed for divorce last week, details emerged about a woman the actor-filmmaker has been spending a lot of time with, even taking her on a family vacation to Costa Rica.
A woman named Oksana, People.com reports.
The celebrity Web site says she is Oksana Grigorieva, a Russian singer who is signed to Mr. Gibson’s record label, Icon Records.
Public records also suggest that Miss Grigorieva, 39 — an ex-girlfriend of former James Bond star Timothy Dalton — has lived in a house linked to Mr. Gibson, 53.
The home, purchased in Sherman Oaks, Calif., in December 2008, has an ownership trust administered by the CFO of Mr. Gibson’s production company, Icon.
While neither Miss Grigorieva nor Mr. Gibson have commented, Miss Grigorieva certainly resembles the leggy brunette photographed with Mr. Gibson on the Boston set of his upcoming film, “Edge of Darkness,” and seen frolicking in the surf with the star in Costa Rica.
According to People, Miss Grigorieva, a composer, has one son — Alexander — with Mr. Dalton, 63.
