How did you get started in real estate? I got my license to buy investment properties. The idea of working for myself appealed to me, so I went into real estate full time.

How long with the current company? Since 2003

Licenses and designations: Associate broker, Virginia

Associations: Northern Virginia Association of Realtors

Awards: Platinum Club, Chairman’s Club, RE/MAX Hall of Fame

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: I went on a mission trip to serve the people of Zambia. I was blessed with the opportunity to meet with President Bush and the first lady on World AIDS Day. Along with a handful of others, we discussed what faith-based groups do in Africa to battle AIDS and how our government could further engage with us.

Area of specialty: Nearly all of my business comes from referrals, so I work in a broad range of areas and prices. I have a soft spot for first-time buyers.

Highest-priced home sold: $1,300,000

Most memorable house: I was on my way to meet a couple to see a new “McMansion” on a small lot in Arlington when they changed their minds. Instead, we met at a 3-acre equestrian property in the suburbs, complete with a dressage ring (that I kept calling a “triage” ring). They bought it.

Worst experience buying or selling a house: The difficulty always comes when other participants in the transaction do not do their part.

Age: 44

Family: Single

Education: Bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from Virginia Tech, 1986

Community affiliations/community service/outside interests: Last Well Ministry, Love Your Neighbor Ministry, Virginia Tech Alumni Association, Access Ministry, local politics, relatively new passion for international travel and sports

Last book read: “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis

Last movie seen: “Quantum of Solace”

What kind of car do you drive? Lexus GX 470 and a Dodge Viper

Describe your personal dream house: I love the mountains and the water, so I would like a modest A-frame in the hills or a cottage at the beach. I like my current house, which is an old house I renovated myself.
