Police say a badly decomposed body has been found in the Potomac River.

Authorities say someone contacted police at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday after seeing a human limb under a dock at the Washington Sailing Marina in Alexandria.

Police say divers removed the body from under the dock at about 5:15 p.m.

Police say the remains have been taken to the D.C. medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.
