DETROIT — Tyler Hansbrough has his championship. So, too, do the rest of his North Carolina teammates.

Ty Lawson scored 21 points and had a NCAA-record tying eight steals as the Tar Heels rolled to their fifth national title.

Ultimately, this game was decided long before the final buzzer. And in some ways that was fitting for a team that entered the year with such high expectations – and, aside from a few head-scratching moments along the way, fulfilled them.

The Times’ Patrick Stevens blogged the national championship game here.
