ANALYSIS/OPINION:

It’s wonderful that Lanny J. Davis credits Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, for acting like a senator should act (“Ode to the purple senator: Lindsey Graham, S.C. Republican,” Nation, Monday). Except for one thing - once the shoe is on the other foot, does anyone expect the Democrats to act as honorably?

Fighting a street fight using the Marquis of Queensbury rules results in an honorable defeat. The union thugs who beat up the man in St. Louis, Mo., last weekend understand that. So do former Republican Illinois Senate candidate Jack Ryan and his divorce attorney. If we treat honorably those who hate our way of life — hypocrites who use our money to buy the same private jets they excoriate others for buying with their own money — then we can expect our way of life to be defeated and for freedom to die.

Note to the White House: Go ahead and add me to the database of dissidents.
