ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Cal Thomas’ column (“Getting rid of granny,” Opinion, Aug. 11) really descended to the depths. No one in Congress is talking about any such thing. The town-hall meeting disruptions are mostly by outsiders, who are put up to it by insurance company interests out to protect their profits. That is why this country needs the “public option” — to keep insurance companies honest and to keep costs down.

Mr. Thomas should be ashamed of playing this game. He surely knows better.
