ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Guinea pigs are charming little animals and make wonderful pets for the right people (“Cute critters at risk,” Plugged in, Wednesday). However, the decision to get a guinea pig or any pet should be based on the animal’s specific needs and whether it will fit into the family’s lifestyle. Nobody should get a pet simply because “it was so cute in a movie.” After all, we are talking real life, not “reel” life. The guinea pig will need love and care throughout its entire life, not just until “G-Force” disappears from the movie theatres.

Many thanks for an excellent, in-depth article about these special animals, which all too often are dismissed as “starter pets.”
