Reston’s miles of walking trails, swimming pools, tennis courts, community centers and village shopping centers create a community conducive to meeting new neighbors quickly. The established neighborhoods in Reston still offer what the planners had in mind more than 40 years ago: comfortable homes for every price range in a pedestrian-friendly community.

The town home at 2419 Glade Bank Way is on the market for $449,900. This end unit sits in a cul-de-sac and backs to woods. Inside, the home has nearly 2,400 square feet with a two-car garage.

The grounds for this home include flagstone patios in the front and back, along with a low-maintenance Trex deck with a hot tub facing the trees. The woods behind the home are common property for the community, but owners are allowed to add a few flower beds along the edge of the trees.

Built in 1974, this contemporary home retains a few charming 1970s touches, such as a sunken sitting-area “conversation pit” in front of the wood-burning fireplace.

The updates made by the owners include new windows and skylights, a renovated kitchen, renovated baths, a new roof, freshly painted walls, new carpet and new laminated wood floors.

Multiple skylights and sliding glass doors complement the open floor plan, which has several levels connected by short staircases and angled walls.

The main foyer leads to a hall with a view of the woods behind the house. A small half bath is off the main hall. The updated kitchen includes black Silestone counters, stainless steel appliances, a pantry, laminate wood floors and maple cabinets with undercabinet lighting. The kitchen includes a pass-through to the adjacent family room, which has a ceiling fan, a sliding glass door to the front patio and new laminate wood floors. Tall and narrow openings offer a glimpse from the family room into the foyer and hall.

Just beyond the kitchen is the dining room, which also has wood laminate floors and is open to the living room and sitting area. The sitting area is a few steps below the dining room and features plush carpeting on the floor and built-in benches, along with a wood-burning fireplace surrounded by new ceramic tiles and a ceramic tile raised hearth. Floor-to-ceiling windows flank the fireplace.

The living room has a vaulted ceiling with skylights, new carpet and a sliding glass door to the back patio. Nearby is the sunroom, which has glass doors, a vaulted ceiling, new carpet, built-in bookcases and sliding glass doors to the deck.

Upstairs, the master bedroom sits on a separate level a few steps from the secondary bedrooms. The master suite includes sliding glass doors to an interior balcony overlooking the sunroom. The spacious bedroom measures 20 feet by 13 feet and includes new carpet and a walk-in closet. The updated private bath has a raised vanity with two sinks and a granite counter, ceramic tile floors and new lighting.

The secondary bedrooms are a few steps up, where the generously sized second bedroom has been created from two smaller bedrooms. This room has two hall doors, a double-door closet and a deep walk-in closet.

The third bedroom has French doors, new carpet and two closets, including one walk-in closet. The full bath off the hall opens into a laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer.

This home awaits new owners who will enjoy living in this light-filled space near Reston’s many amenities.
