The Maryland basketball team’s schedule is low on surprises after many of its dates trickled out in recent months.

Still, there were interesting subplots when the full schedule was released along with the rest of the ACC’s on Tuesday.

The Terrapins, who open Nov. 13 against Charleston Southern, already were locked into three games in the Maui Invitational, a Big Ten/ACC Challenge date at Indiana and a BB&T; Classic meeting with Villanova at Verizon Center.

Maryland will play back-to-back conference road games on three occasions. The Terps begin conference play at home Jan. 10 against Florida State, and their home finale is March 3 against Duke. Maryland closes the regular season at Virginia for the third straight season.

The Cavaliers begin their first season under coach Tony Bennett on Nov. 13, when Longwood visits Charlottesville. Virginia’s significant nonconference event is a trip to Cancun, Mexico, to face Stanford and then either Kentucky or Cleveland State just before Thanksgiving.

Virginia Tech, which opens at home Nov. 15 against Brown, will visit Iowa and Penn State and play host to Georgia in notable nonconference games. The Hokies also will face Seton Hall in Cancun on Jan. 2.
