BALTIMORE — A judge has set a new trial date for Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon.

The mayor now faces trial Nov. 9 on charges including theft and perjury.

Mrs. Dixon’s trial was scheduled for Sept. 8, but a delay was necessary after prosecutors obtained a new indictment, which includes new evidence against her and restores some perjury charges that were thrown out previously.

Retired Howard County Circuit Judge Dennis Sweeney, who is overseeing the case, told attorneys at a hearing Wednesday that motions filed under the previous indictment are now moot. He scheduled a hearing for Sept. 30 to hear arguments on any new motions.

Mrs. Dixon’s attorneys said they plan to file a new motion arguing that State Prosecutor Robert Rohrbaugh has abused the grand jury process.

Mr. Rohrbaugh said he sees no issue that would prevent the case from going to trial.
