Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill had a surprise visit from Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama on Thursday. They stopped in with some staff members for cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings and shakes, per the establishment’s owner, chef Spike Mendelsohn.

Mr. Mendelsohn, who was previously a contestant on Bravo’s “Top Chef Chicago,” told us that the first lady and company arrived at 11:30 a.m., ordered and took seats in the restaurant’s upstairs dining area.

Mr. Mendelsohn, who is buddies with White House chef Sam Katz, noted, “One of the things [Mrs. Obama] likes about coming here is that we don’t make a huge deal of it. We don’t call TMZ.”

But he does talk to G2. Thanks, Spike!

“It was nice that she brought her kids, because we’re a really family-friendly place,” he said. “The kids really enjoyed their shakes.”

Yum. We’ll take one vanilla and one strawberry, please.

Hot stuff

While the burgers at Good Stuff are grillin’, the pages of Maxim will be sizzlin’ with Beltway beauties.

The popular lads’ mag has just closed online voting for its 2009 Hometown Hotties Contest, and G2 has learned that two local ladies have made the top 100.

“Abby M.” from Alexandria and “Angela” from Fairfax are among the 6,000 hotties who posted supersexy still shots and videos of themselves on the Maxim Web site so readers can vote for the hottest of them all.

We checked out their profiles to see how well they are representing the D.C. area. You be the judge. “Abby M.,” a brunette Realtor photographed in leopard-print lingerie with tiny pink bows, says her favorite thing to cook is “Filipino spaghetti,” which she describes as “yummy.”

“Angela” is a graphic designer who volunteers that she is “extra flexible” from practicing ballet since she was a small child.

Votes are tallied for the top 100, and the winner and the top 10 finalists are selected by Maxim editors. The final 10, to be announced in December, are featured in the January issue.

Bride to be

Speaking of hot girls, G2 has discovered that Sarah Huckabee, the youngest child and only daughter of presidential-candidate-turned-Fox-host Mike Huckabee, is engaged to someone she met while working on her pop’s campaign.

The lucky guy is Bryan Sanders, a political consultant with Dresner, Wickers & Associates in California.

Mr. Sanders popped the question to the 20-something brunette, who runs Mr. Huckabee’s Huck PAC in Washington, at his family’s ranch in Kansas, where his parents also became engaged.

We hear that Mr. Huckabee, who is an ordained Baptist minister, will officiate and walk his beaming daughter down the aisle on the big day next spring.

Congratulations from G2.

On Twitter

A tweet from Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey about Venezuela’s volatile lefty President Hugo Chavez caught our eye. Known for his liberal politics and close friendship with former President Bill Clinton, the actor tweeted the following earlier this week: “BTW/Chavez is not my friend/Met him once but never supported him. Do not assume I do. Do NOT support what he is doing against free press.”

We could not determine what prompted his anti-Chavez clarification, but we’re wondering what @seanpenn thinks about it.

Meanwhile, that most prolific of twitterers, Meghan McCain, the blond and brazen daughter of Sen. John McCain, had this to say. “Thank you to people that keep telling me I look like Americas Top Model Winner Whitney [Thompson], flattering! And were both a size 10!”

Miss McCain’s size has been a weighty issue in the blogosphere since conservative commentator Laura Ingraham mocked Miss McCain as “plus size” in response to her criticism of far-right policies.
