District of Columbia lawmakers passed legislation Tuesday that allows same-sex marriages in the nation’s capital.

The D.C. Council passed the bill 11-2. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, Democrat, is expected to sign the bill as early as tonight.

The bill faces a 30-day congressional review before it can become law.
