SAN DIEGO (AP) — Authorities say one person is dead and at least five are injured after a 33-foot Coast Guard patrol boat and a recreational boat collided in San Diego Bay.

The crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. during a Christmas boat parade, but neither boat was involved in the parade.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Jetta Disco says one person from the civilian boat was declared dead Sunday night at University of California, San Diego Hospital.

San Diego Fire Department spokesman Maurice Luque (LOO’-kay) says five others with serious injuries — all from the recreational boat — were taken to the same hospital.

Luque says all 13 people involved in the collision have been accounted for. Coast Guard officials say no one from the patrol boat was injured.
