Stanley Martin Homebuilding LLC is building 55 town homes at Darlington Oaks in Herndon, Va., where residents can walk to shops, restaurants and the Washington and Old Dominion rail trail in historic downtown Herndon. The community is convenient to Reston Town Center. (Darlington Oaks also has 18 single-family homes.)

Each town home in this Fairfax County community will include fiber cement siding, a covered front porch and a two-car garage.

Inside, homes feature three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths; hardwood floors in the foyer, kitchen, dining room and breakfast area; 9-foot ceilings on the main and upper levels; a fireplace; a trim package; birch cabinets, granite counters, an undermount sink, a wall oven, a cooktop and a microwave in the center-island kitchen; and ceramic tile floors in the lower-level foyer, garage entry and all baths.

Chaucer model town homes have about 2,439 finished square feet, with base prices from the upper $400,000s. Homeowner association fees have yet to be determined.

The Chaucer opens to a lower-level, two-story foyer with an adjacent recreation room, a closet and French doors to the porch.

The main level features a living room with a triple window and a fireplace, a central dining room and an open center-island kitchen and breakfast room with a sliding glass door to a deck.

Upstairs, the master suite has a walk-in closet and a private bath with a double-sink vanity. Two more bedrooms, a second full bath and a laundry room complete this level.
