As friends and family gather during the holidays, they may long for a special place where they can return for holiday get-togethers in every season. Perhaps 2010 could be the year to buy a new home for enjoying vacations, weekends and holidays at the beach.

At North Beach in Bethany Beach, Del., Beazer Homes Corp. is building 40 low-maintenance town homes that offer the space of a single-family home with 3,453 finished square feet.

The community is minutes from downtown Bethany Beach, close to beach access, the boardwalk, shops, restaurants and endless planned events and activities in the summer months.

North Beach residents have the option of staying within their community for resortlike pleasures, including a swimming pool with a cabana and a boardwalk with a kayak and canoe launch. Half of the homes are on the water overlooking Salt Pond.

Most of the homes range from $508,990 to $587,800. Homes on the water range from $711,490 to $837,800 for an end unit with the option of adding an elevator. Condominium fees are $1,025 per quarter.

The homes include low-maintenance, color-coordinated exteriors with fiber-cement siding, 30-year fiberglass roof shingles and professional landscaping. Inside, the homes have 9-foot ceilings on the main living level, ceramic tile floors in the foyer and energy-efficient features.

Each home has an open kitchen with 42-inch maple cabinets, Corian counters with an integrated Corian sink, and hardwood floors. The full baths include ceramic tile floors and ceramic tile tub and shower surrounds with oak vanities and cultured-marble vanity tops.

Buyers can add an elevator on some homes, additional master suites, granite counters and media rooms.

The Hatteras model has a foyer entrance on the ground floor with a walk-in storage closet. Another storage closet is off the parking area for each home.

The first floor includes a spacious game room with sliding glass doors to a covered deck and built-in spaces for a media center. At the center of this level is a tech center with a built-in desk, built-in shelving and a storage closet. Nearby are a laundry room, a linen closet and a full bath with a double-sink vanity. This level has two bedrooms, each with a double-door closet and a glass door to a balcony.

The main living level, on the second floor, has an open floor plan. At the front of the home are the living room and dining room, each with a glass door to a balcony. The living room has a two-story ceiling. Both rooms are open to the center-island kitchen, which has a pantry and nearby built-in shelving.

At the back of this level is a family room with a wall of windows and sliding glass doors to a covered deck. The family room includes a fireplace flanked by two media centers. A breakfast bar extends from the kitchen into the family room. A half bath and linen closet are nearby.

The upper-level master suite has a bedroom and sitting room, both with sliding glass doors to a covered deck. The suite includes a luxury bath with a soaking tub, a separate shower, a walk-in closet and a double-sink vanity.

This level also has a loft overlooking the living room and has another bedroom with an adjacent full bath.
