Prince George’s County police say a 40-year-old woman has been arrested in the stabbing of a pregnant woman in Suitland.

Police spokesman Evan Baxter said Veronica Delores Dermous of Suitland was arrested Sunday night in Arlington, where she’s being held awaiting extradition to Maryland. Ms. Dermous faces attempted murder, assault and false imprisonment charges.

Officers found the stabbed woman, who was in the third trimester of her pregnancy, in the parking lot of a Suitland apartment complex on Sunday. A caller had reported seeing a man with a knife chasing her.

Mr. Baxter said the woman is in stable condition and expected to recover.
