Thirteen cars of an 81-car train carrying coal derailed Thursday night in Bowie.

Prince George’s fire department spokesman Mark Brady said the CSX train was traveling south when it derailed at about 10 p.m. in the 4800 block of Briercrest Road.

Two of the derailed cars were on their sides and the locomotive also derailed, Mr. Brady said.

Two CSX employees were on the train; they were not hurt.
