ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Columnist Julia Duin wrote a fine review of the film “Bella” and its effect on people (“‘Bella’ celebrates life, changed lives,” Religion, Sunday). The entire question of abortion must be revisited because it has had dire effects on our country.

Since 1973, the United States has lost nearly 50 million unborn babies. That has had enormous consequences for our country.

Examples are the great loss of economic capital, the weakening of our national security and the grave threat to our Social Security system. We are all paying the price for the United States’ immoral conduct, the destruction of our most vulnerable and defenseless citizens - the unborn. Add to this special interests groups, and patriots know we are on the road to self-destruction.
