Maryland’s Eastern Shore attracts visitors and vacation homebuyers from the Washington area who are looking for a peaceful place where they can enjoy charming small towns, boating, fishing and water views.

At Chesapeake, an active-adult community where residents must be age 55 or older, Del Webb Corp. has developed a community that takes advantage of its Eastern Shore location in Easton. While plenty of amenities have been incorporated into the community, residents may also spend their time exploring the cultural activities and antique shops of Easton and nearby St. Michaels, or spend time on the Chesapeake Bay.

The Easton Club, an 18-hole championship golf course, is minutes away, and a free two-year membership in the club is included for homebuyers.

Within Chesapeake, residents can spend time at the 11,000-square-foot Chesapeake community clubhouse, which includes a grand room for parties, movies, meetings, social hours and ballroom dancing. A wide range of planned events and programs are held at Chesapeake, which offers more than 25 clubs that range from a book club to poker clubs.

There are also clubs for sailing, bowling, scrapbooking and sewing. The clubhouse has a fitness center with a separate aerobics room, a business center, a library, a billiard and dart room, a card and game room and an arts-and-crafts center.

Outdoor amenities at Chesapeake include a swimming pool, tennis courts with a gazebo sitting area, a putting green, a picnic area, ponds, pocket parks and a walking trail.

The single-family homes at Chesapeake, base priced from $399,990 to $419,990, have a monthly homeowner association fee of $175 that includes access to all recreational amenities. The homes range in size from 1,875 to 2,380 finished square feet, with two or three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a two-car garage.

The Wittman model, with 1,875 square feet, has a formal dining room with an optional tray ceiling and columns flanking the entrance. This home also has a first-floor library and a two-story great room with an optional cathedral ceiling and an optional fireplace. The great room has a wall of windows and opens into the center-island kitchen and breakfast area.

The first-floor master suite has an optional tray ceiling, a walk-in closet and a luxury bath with a corner soaking tub, a separate shower and two separate vanities. This level also has a second bedroom, a second full bath, several closets and a laundry room. Buyers can add a second level with a loft, a third bedroom and a third full bath.

The McDaniel mode has 2,380 square feet and is priced from $419,990. This home has a two-story foyer flanked by the formal living room and the formal dining room, each with columns. At the back of the home are a two-story family room with a fireplace, an open kitchen and breakfast area. Both the family room and the breakfast area have walls of windows.

The first-floor master suite has a walk-in closet and a luxury bath. A powder room, a laundry room and multiple closets complete this level. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, a walk-in storage closet, a full bath and a loft.
