ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Please add our company, International Battery, to the list of American lithium battery companies identified by Jerry Seper looking for funding from the Department of Energy with a few important nuances relevant to Mr. Seper’s article (“U.S. tax dollars may aid Russian,” Page 1, Sunday). We have already built a factory in America — to be precise, in Allentown, Pa. We built it before it became fashionable — or fundable via stimulus funding. (Our application to DOE would expand the manufacturing capacity within our 92,000-square-foot existing building.) International Battery is funded by U.S. private equity that made an early bet on both the technology and the importance of manufacturing here in the United States.

It is worth noting that our technology is environmentally friendly in using a water-based process to manufacture lithium batteries. We believe we are unique in the United States in doing so.
