ANALYSIS/OPINION:

I was surprised at your editorial Monday opposing the I-95/I-395 HOT lanes project (“Not so HOT lanes”). Though I personally have no need to use the HOT lanes, I like the concept because it brings obviously needed highway improvements at no cost to the taxpayer who doesn’t use it. Those willing to pay the tolls finance the improvements.

Carpools with three or more passengers still ride for free, and more buses can be accommodated. There are better on- and off-ramps, particularly at the Pentagon.

The Washington Times needs to take another look at this important project.
